Rebel Sketchy joined the Ground Level family last year, with his part of the Disruptive Beats EP series and compilation. Since then he has become a solid member of the label's roster, releasing two further singles, remixing Joe C on our 44th release and DJing at Ground Level nights in Cambridge, Derby and London. Following a couple of these DJ appearances he locked himself away in the studio and out came this EP of two contemporary breaks bombs aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

Up & Down builds with funky chords and rolling beats, constantly using upwards moving melody lines to build anticipation, then it builds just a little more, and then drops to the mother of all rising basslines Funky enough to make the bootys shake but dirty enough to melt a few faces Up and Down delivers the goods.

I Need You is a swagger-happy delight, filled with uplifting chord progressions, quirky vocals and enough bass to fill an olympic sized pool. Once again this is designed for the dancefloor and will not disappoint!

“Really nice sound to I Need You, will be supporting” – Dustin Hulton
“Really liking the booty swing on I Need You” – Drumattic Twins
“Yeah man, some wicked breakbeat action, more please” – Scott Nixon
“Exactly what we like at the minute” – Leuce Rhythms
“Great Work” – Mr No Hands

Released by: groundlevel
Release/catalogue number: GL047
Release date: Mar 30, 2012

To help promote the release Rebel Sketchy has done an awesome re-edit of Rihanna which is available for free download.

Thought I’d share this ‘DJ tool’ with you all, in celebration of my brand new double-single out today on Ground Level. Pick it up from Beatport exclusively from around 12pm! The singles are called Up & Down / I Need You and my aim was to provide you with two flavours of dance-floor fodder, I really hope you enjoy listening as much as I did creating. If you want a preview before they hit Beatport check this link here – http://snd.sc/xvUYxE

All the best,

Dave
